Cape Nature

CapeNature Nature Reserves is a government entity. We are responsible for managing and maintaining thirty-one complexes. These are made up of One Hundred and Thirteen nature reserves and wilderness areas, in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. This includes six Marine Protected Areas.

As custodian of the province’s natural environment, CapeNature is tasked with nature conservation and awareness. We aim to preserve biodiversity, as well as providing facilities for education, research and training.

Come and visit one of our pristine reserves or wilderness areas as a day visitor. If preferred it’s possible to linger for longer in one of our campsites or eco-cabins. Please save our hashtag and join in the #LoveNature movement by posting your pics with the hashtag #LoveNature. We would love to see your posts! We hope you are as fascinated and in love with the beautiful fauna and flora, as well as the wildlife, as we are.

Conserve. Explore. Experience.

Kogelberg Nature Reserve

Curious about CapeNature Nature Reserves? Considered by many to be the most beautiful of CapeNature’s protected areas, Kogelberg Nature Reserve earns that reputation. This is largely to the fact that it occupies an area with minimal human interference. Its exceptional diversity and quality of fynbos means it is considered the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The reserve presents perhaps the finest example of mountain fynbos in the Western Cape. It is a world-renowned World Heritage Site.

Stoney Point Nature Reserve

Located in the quaint coastal town of Betty’s Bay in the Overberg, the Stony Point Nature Reserve is home to a unique colony of African Penguins. Stony Point offers the public the chance to see these wonderful flightless birds up close. Visitors can do this via the boardwalk through the colony. The boardwalk allows the public to observe the penguins go about their daily activities in their natural habitat, without disturbing or disrupting them.
